Since the day in the early 1990s that I got my hands on the
soundtrack CD for “The
Phantom of the Opera” I’ve been obsessed with Sarah Brightman’s
angelic voice. When I heard “Think of Me” I was
mesmerized and in complete love with her. I remember many nights listening to
this CD and many time putting that particular track, as well as the title track, on repeat
under headphones as to not torture my family.
It was around the time of the Barcelona 1992 Summer
Olympics because when I saw the closing ceremonies and she sang “Amigos Para Siempre” it
gave me goose bumps. I remember not being to buy the single when it was
released but many years later finding it. Through the years I’ve followed her
and been lucky enough to see her preform live in concert during the Harem World Tour,
which was one of the best concerts ever. During that concert she preformed “What A Wonderful World”
(a personal favorite as a child) which she did at the end of the stage right in
front of me (three rows from the big star you see in the video). It was like a scene straight out of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”
while she preformed it on a swing covered in flowers.
On October 10, 2012, the English classical crossover soprano
has released a video for the new single “Angel” from her upcoming 11th
studio album “Dreamchaser”
coming January 22, 2013. You can get this single for free by signing up for her
email list at her homepage.
The whole album seems to be inspired by her experience in reaching a childhood
dream to travel to space. During a live press conference from
Moscow the same day she announced that she will be doing just that soon
after she finishes the Dreamchaser World
Tour. In the YouTube
video below you can see the whole journey she has been on to reach this goal.
Here is the video for Angle by Sarah Brightman followed by
the lyrics:
Angel Lyrics - Sarah
Brightman
I am your shadow
I am your rain
I am your longing
A little of your pain
I am red
I am blue
I am your angel
I am in you
Angel
Angel
I am your madness
I am your tears
I am your sadness
And I am your fears
I am restless
I am your dreams
I am the moments
In between
Angel
Angel
Angel (repeated several times in soprano)
Ohhhh… Angle
Angel (repeated several times in soprano)
Background vocals: Fly, Fly, Fly, Fly
