Flick Night In The City: BearCity 2, The Proposal

Last night I mingled, laughed, and cried, all in the span of a few hours. It was the “beary furry” Closing Night of the 4th Annual Fort Lauderdale Gay & Lesbian FilmFestival (FLGLFF), which featured the much anticipated South Florida premiere of BearCity 2: The Proposal. The evening began with a Pre-Screening Cocktail Gathering with Director/Screenwriter Douglas Langway and Lead Actor GeraldMcCullough at Schubert Resort and Spa hosted by Tony Lima of BearNation Events. Except for the usual sudorific SoFlo night that had us bears in attendance a bit sweaty, the pre-rally was flawless and conveniently within walking distance of The ClassicGateway Theatre. It was all well organized considering there were two theaters SOLD OUT for the screening. But no worries if you didn’t make it out last night, there is still time for you to see it until Thursday, October 18, 2012.

BearCity2 starts out in NYC two years after we left Hot Daddy Roger (GeraldMcCullouch) & Young Tyler (JoeConti) and the rest of the BearCity family. The legalization of Same Sex Marriages in New York prompts Roger to romantically propose to unsuspecting Tyler. McSteamyBear’s proposal is what gets the beach ball rolling northeast to Provincetown, MA for a Bachelor Party/Wedding during P-town'sBear Week in July. It’s the perfect setting for the whole gang to let loose before the big day but “where hard-partying, bare bears and titillating temptations threaten the 'I dos.' Let the fur fly!” as the FLGLFF program read.

The whole gang is back: Brent (Stephen Guarino) & Fred (Brian Keane), Michael (Gregory Gunter) & Carlos (James Martinez), and of course Tyler’s BFF Simon, played by PocketHottie Alex Di Dio among others. Plus spicing up the comedy are a few stellar additions to the cast. KathyNajimy (She was awesome! It’s time to watch Hocus Pocus!) plays Brent’s widowed B&B owner mom, Rose, who is Super Den Mother to the pack of furry gents that stay there. Richard Riehle plays Tyler’s prudish father, Gabe, who is constantly called “Daddy” and has an awkward introduction to “Dick Dock” one night.

The BEAR-ssential is: The sequel was inclusive of all the Bear/Chub community themes in funny but real ways, as well as the very real topic of same sex marriage and how it affects the dynamic of relationships. The movie poster’s tagline says it all… Marriage is more than just the freedom to say, “I do.” Point is there is plenty of laughter and a few moments of sniffles & tears throughout the movie.

City Spotlight On The Hotties (Part 2 - Gerald McCullouch)

Today it’s “City Spotlight On The Hottie” which will included a broader type of guys, except the “Pocket Hotties” which are reserved for that special “City Spotlight On The (Pocket) Hottie” (guys of short stature, mostly those guys under 5’8”). As mentioned at the end of yesterday’s entry our spotlight is on Gerald “HardG” McCullouch who plays Roger the HOT DADDY Player from BearCity. He’s most know for is long time as his role as Bobby Dawson on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (or CSI: LasVegas aka The Original) and on E! TV as recurring guest of FYE!. The Irish-American Alabama native is an award-winning actor, director, screenwriter and singer [yes he has some pipes (mind out of the gutter guys!) playing the title role in the European tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar].

The “McSteamy Bear” (especially since he’s been embracing his HOT HOT HOT grey) is a 2010 honoree of OUT 100 with the likes of Ricky Martin (finally out!), Julianne Moore (my fav big screen diva for many years), Nate Berkus (WOOF! What a Pocket Hottie… maybe I’ll feature him soon?), Scissor Sisters (there is a triple helping of spotlighting there… hum more ideas), Alan Cumming (I love his great smile), Circuit Party Superstar DJ Tracey Young and others. Photographer Larry Fink did an amazing job capturing HardG’s essential sexiness during their session.

How cute is he in this one? Found on lasplash.com

Awww... this scene with Roger and Tyler connecting was so sweet.

After all the tension, Roger & Tyler finally kiss (I thought they were going to jump each other's bones right there).
Let the STEAMY PICS begin!
Really which cover is better? Both are good... but I like the one with ALL the honey for my tummy!

This is one sticky situation I'd love to be a part off. WOOF!
