YES, I’M ALIVE (AND RECOVERING SLOWLY)

First I would like to thank all of you who have been writing me well wishes and asking how I was doing. It has been a slow but successful recovery. Albeit I’m not 100% recovered, I do feel there has been some improvement. I apologize to those who only heard about the car wreck, but not heard that I was alive. I can’t say the same about my car, laptop, CrackBerry and a few other items that didn’t survive the wreck. With that said, I am not at liberty to discuss any further details about the wreck, other than I’m alive and slowly recovering, because of the open lawsuit I am involved in.

Now that I have my laptop like Humpty Dumpty has been put together again, or maybe it’s more like patched together a la Frankenstein?  I will try to start posting some of the entries which I worked on during my hiatus. There are a few that were not time sensitive and would still be worthy of reading. It has certainly been painful to be away this long just when I was starting to get use to writing everyday.

All this time I’ve been trying to think of a good way to thank you all for the messages that were being sent. After much thought I came up with an idea and will be announcing it on my birthday entry coming up soon. If you want to know more just become a follower of this blog. You will not only be the first to know of all the new stuff coming to “BigBearMIA In The City” but you may be surprisingly “rewarded” along the way.

Until the next entry… Be Happy, Be Safe, BigBear XoxOs!

Ear Candy In The City: DJ PAULO - I LOVE BRASIL (Part 1 - Primetime)

For a fuller experience hit the play button before you enjoy this entry. You are in for a sweat treat, this is great Portuguese BITCHERY!!

Today is Mardi Gras which means the end of the Carnival debauchery and as throw I want to introduce you to DJ Paulo's signature percussive tribal and progressive sound commonly known as “Portuguese Bitchery.” My first exposure to Paulo’s unique sound was 6 years ago at the final “The Great Chicago Fireball” in 2005 where his live performance at Crobar full of his signature tribal deep-house was mixed with hypnotizing vocals. I left that night hooked for life. Some consider him an amazing live performer that I tend to think that having played at some of the worlds biggest clubs, parties and events there might be some truth there. As his Podomatic page description states “Whether it’s primetime club music, afterhours, straight, gay (or anything in between), there is something for everyone in one of these sets. Enjoy peace and music! PAULO”

Todays' In The City Lyrics are for yesterday’s featured Ear Candy In The City: Britney Spears - Till the World Ends which no surprise was written by Ke$ha.

Britney Spears – Till The World Ends

This kicked in got your tongue tied in knots, I see
Spit it out ‘cause I’m dying for company
I notice that you got it
You notice that I want it
You know that I can take it to the next level baby
If you want this good shit
Sicker than the remix
Baby let me blow your mind tonight

(Chorus)
I can’t take it take it take no more
Never felt like felt like felt like this before
Come on get me get me on the floor
DJ what you what you waiting for?

Ear Candy In The City: Britney Spears “Till the World Ends”

As some know I’m not the biggest fan of Britney Spears, the so called “Pop Princess” which I’ve never believed to be an accurate title, but today I got a got a taste of her new single and it is pop at its best. So it came as no surprise it was written by Ke$ha.

Britney Spears’ new song “Till The World Ends” is off of her upcoming album “Femme Fatale,” which will be out March 29, 2011.

Ear Candy In The City: Lady Gaga “Born This Way” Video Premiere (Part 1)

After the hot-cold reception of Lady Gaga’s new single “Born This Way” by nearly everyone older than 20 years old because they remember Madonna’s “Express Yourself” and the similarities of the two tracks. Then there is the controversy Lady Gaga caused by claiming it’s a “Gay (Rights) Anthem” before it was even released. Obviously the song was written with her queer fans in mind; with such lyrics as, “don't be a drag, just be a queen” and “no matter gay, straight or bi, lesbian, transgender life, I'm on the right track baby, I was born to survive,” it is bound to be playing at every PRIDE event around world.

Now more controversy to come with today’s premiere of the 1st video for “Born This Way”; and the 2nd coming out soon will be a more “stripped-down version of the song” according to Lady Gaga herself, with the proceeds going to an anti-bullying charity. As much as I occasionally feel a little anti-gaga on occasions she always seems to bring me around when she does things like this. It’s hard not to like someone who fights for your cause.

So what’s my take on the new 7 minute video written by Lady Gaga, directed by fashion photographer Nick Knight, and choreographed by Laurie Ann Gibson? It's a smörgåsbord with a bit of everything all mixed into it. First all the references to pop icons, both alive and dead tossed in – like Alexander McQueen (his final fashion collection), Michael Jackson (white gloves), Rick Genest (aka Zombie Boy and her as Zombie Girl with pink hair… P!NK?!? ...hum? Could that be yet another reference… nah.) and Madonna (with tooth gap included and multiple similarities to past dance moves/videos). Even recognizable film scenes were thrown into this mix from the opening that feels a little like “Labyrinth” with the unicorn (or is it about Charlie?) and graphics which smoothly transitions into the first “Superman” movie with the clear cube arrival of the “Mother Monster” in this short film about rebirths in the “multiverse” and then from “Sin City” you have the awesome black and white shooting scene and even some scenes from the great 1927's expressionist German film “Metropolis” were featured (if you haven’t seen the movie rent it).

Aside from Rick Genest, there is plenty representation of various body modifications and body alterations throughout the video, including her wearing the prosthetics she has been wearing on her face and shoulders lately to all her public appearances.

One of my favorite parts is when she makes gesters of jerking off the tosses it to the side which could be a little self-reference to the rumors she’s a hermaphrodite but with a little Madonna-esque “Fuck You!” mixed into it. LOVE IT!

Okay enough telling you about it just “put your paws up” and watch it!

Here are some cool shots from the video:

Here are some more images of Rick Genest for your enjoyment:

Really he wasn't "Born This Way" so what did Rick Genest look like before the tattoos?

TOO Sick To Write Tonight

I had all the intensions to write about the Lady Gaga weekend. But I’m too sick to write for long. I’m too stuffed up to stay up and need some serious rest. But I’m hoping tomorrow I’ll be feeling better enough. Hope you guys are having a Happy V-Day!

In The City Lyrics: Garçon Garçon – Maybe Tonight Lyrics

The “Maybe Tonight” is the most hopeful of all the lyrics from the Beary Hot Aussie Duo Garçon Garçon which I want to share with you today. Of the three songs I’ve featured this week this one shows the most influences of greats like New Order, Depeche Mode and Pet Shop Boys with a The Smiths/Morrissey-isc thrown in for good balance. Additionally, below are some more silly images of Nathan Mahon  (vocals/guitar) and Nick Tsirimokos (synth/programming) for you to enjoy. Thanks to It’s The Money Shot and StereoBeatBox we can download the demo track for “Maybe Tonight” to enjoy while we wait for this summers' release of “EP” which sounds promising.

Maybe Tonight – Garçon Garçon

Maybe he’ll be out there
Tonight
Maybe he’ll be somewhere
Tonight

But if I had a love
If I had a love
If I had a love
If I had a love
If I had a love
No
If I had a love
If I had a love
If I had a love
If I had a love
If I had a love
Noooo

He’d never go
He’d never go
He’d never go
Away from me
No
He’d never go
He’d never go
He’d never go
Away from me
No

Maybe the stars will align
Tonight
Maybe he’ll know my name
Tonight

But if I had a love
If I had a love
If I had a love
If I had a love
If I had a love
No
If I had a love
If I had a love
If I had a love
If I had a love
If I had a love
Noooo

He’d never go
He’d never go
He’d never go
Away from me
No
He’d never go
He’d never go
He’d never go
Away from me
No

Away from me
Away from me
He’d never be
He’d never leave
Away from me
Away from me
He’d never leave
He’d never leave

If I had a love
If I had a love
If I had a love
If I had a love
If I had a love
No
If I had a love
If I had a love
If I had a love
If I had a love
If I had a love
Noooo

He’d never go
He’d never go
He’d never go
Away from me
No
He’d never go
He’d never go
He’d never go
Away from me
No

Every where you look
Every where you go
Every where you follow
Even when you stop
Even if you go
No
Everything is up
Everything is hope
Everything is lust
Everything is not
Even when you try so

Maybe tonight
Maybe tonight

Take Me Out– Garçon Garçon

Take me out
Tonight
I am bored
And lonely
Help me out
I’m on
My own

Live so fast
Why don’t you
Die young
Slowly
It’s a curse
I see
The future

Fix me baby
I am broken
Empty
Sort me out
It’s you
And me

Never know
What happened
After
Before me
I don’t care
What you did
Then
I know
You now

Show me something
To believe in
Your Bag
Bag of tricks
I’m certain
Something’s up
Your sleeve

The world
Turns slowly
While you wait
Here for me
To decided
It’s you
And me

Tell me baby
Is this ordinary
You’re the one
It’s you
And me

Never know
What happened
After
Before me
I don’t care
What you did
Then
I know
You now

Show me something
To believe in
Your Bag
Bag of tricks
I’m certain
Something’s up
Your sleeve

In Broken Synths:
After before me
I don’t care what you did
Then I know you now
Show me something
To believe in
Your Bag
Bag of tricks
I’m certain
Something’s up
Your sleeve

Take me out
Tonight, ‘em
Take me out
Tonight, ‘em
Take me out
Tonight, ‘em
Take me out
Tonight, ‘em
Take me out
Tonight, ‘em
Take me out
Tonight, ‘em
Take me out
Tonight, ‘em
Take me out
Tonight

Never know
What happened
After
Before me
I don’t care
What you did
Then
I know
You now

Show me something
To believe in
Your Bag
Bag of tricks
I’m certain
Something’s up
Your sleeve

Take me out
Tonight
I am bored
And lonely
Won’t you
Help me
Out

Live so fast
Why don’t you
Die young
Slowly
It’s a curse
I see
The future

I see the future
I see the future
I see the future
I see the future
I see the future
I see the future
